I'll Think About it Tomorrow

It has been another busy weekend down at the lottie. On Friday, Plum said that she wanted a frame to hang her hanging baskets off to stop the slugs getting at her Basil, so we went off to buy some rustic fence posts. Needless to say, while we were trying to get them, it was raining like the devil so we got very wet and then we had to go back to the lottie to erect them.
Saturday morning, we finished the framework and put some bird feeders on it and planted a Russian Vine and a rambling pink rose underneath it to grow up the sides, so we get lots of flowers right up to October. So we will get plenty of use out of these posts, if it kills us. We then painted it green. In fact, we have now painted all our posts green, only the shed has escaped. The upside of this is, that the posts now all blend into the landscape and you don't even notice them. We have transplanted our tomatoes into larger pots and fleeced them up in the shed. We have also made the salad squares and put out a square of each of Little Gem lettuce, beetroot, radish, mazuna, corn salad and spinach. We also planted two rows of Cos lettuce under a cloche and a row of Perpetual Spinach for the Summer and topped up our carrot box with some Nantes seeds that Barry kindly gave to us.
Yesterday, Alan came down to give us a geranium plant 'Apple Blossom' which is apparently pale pink with darker pink markings. We'll wait and see, that is, if we don't kill it first like last years begonia. If it should survive, we have to grow it on in a seven inch pot ready for the Show in August. We had coffee with Barry (next but one plot down) who used his Easter present to make it which is a Kelly Kettle. A nifty bit of kit, very useful for allotmenteers and fishermen. After that it was more sowing and weeding. We are now too tired today to go back and check on the tomatoes. Never mind, as Scarlett O'Hara would say;'I'll think about it tomorrow'.
